Multistage Booster Pump Selection for Pressure Boosting Systems

Vertical multistage pumps are commonly used for pressure boosting, water transfer and circulation. The correct selection depends on the pressure required at the point of use, total flow demand and the liquid conditions—not simply on the number of stages.

Information to confirm

  • Required inlet pressure, outlet pressure and pressure variation during operation
  • Total flow demand, peak flow and number of users or zones
  • Water temperature, quality and required wetted-material compatibility
  • Available suction pressure and risk of cavitation
  • Control strategy: direct operation, pressure switch, VFD or pressure vessel
  • Seal, connection, motor voltage and installation-space requirements

How to narrow the specification

Start from the actual duty point, not the equipment name alone. Check the driven load, transmission losses, operating environment and installation constraints together. Keep the nameplate requirements, mounting dimensions and local electrical supply in the enquiry so the recommended configuration can be checked before order.
