Conveyor Drive Sizing: Motor, Gearbox and Belt Data for a Correct Quote
A conveyor drive is selected from the material flow, belt geometry, resistance, start-up requirement and transmission arrangement. Accurate site data avoids an underpowered drive or an unnecessarily oversized system.
Information to confirm
- Conveyor length, lift, incline angle, belt width and belt speed
- Material bulk density, capacity, lump size and moisture
- Idler arrangement, loading zone, skirt resistance and take-up type
- Required starting behaviour and whether the conveyor starts loaded
- Motor voltage, frequency, starter/VFD arrangement and available supply
- Gearbox ratio, pulley diameter, backstop and brake requirements
How to narrow the specification
Start from the actual duty point, not the equipment name alone. Check the driven load, transmission losses, operating environment and installation constraints together. Keep the nameplate requirements, mounting dimensions and local electrical supply in the enquiry so the recommended configuration can be checked before order.
Request a technical quotation
Send the conveyor layout, material data and duty cycle when requesting a drive quotation. Our mining equipment enquiry process can review the motor/gearbox configuration against the stated operating conditions.
For a preliminary recommendation, submit the operating conditions and any drawing or nameplate photo. Final selection must be confirmed against the complete application.
